COPMA builds high-capacity loader cranes from 100 to 750 tonne-metres of lifting moment. Seven models make up this range: the COPMA 1000, 1150, 1400, 1600, 2000, 3500 and 7500. The COPMA 7500 is the highest-rated at 750 tonne-metres and lifts up to 104,700 kg at 6.2 m. The COPMA 3500 has the longest reach in the range at 50.79 m with the jib fitted. All seven are truck-mounted articulated (knuckle-boom) loader cranes in COPMA's TOP RANGE line. Every figure below is taken from the certified load chart for each model.
A loader crane is a hydraulic crane mounted on a truck that loads and unloads the vehicle it rides on. A knuckle-boom loader crane folds at an articulated joint, so it stows compactly behind the cab. A high-capacity loader crane is one built for the heaviest lifts and longest reaches in the class. COPMA's high-capacity models form its TOP RANGE line. This range runs from the COPMA 1000 at 100 tonne-metres to the COPMA 7500 at 750 tonne-metres. These are truck-mounted knuckle-boom cranes, not tower cranes or telescopic mobile cranes.
A lifting moment is a load multiplied by its horizontal distance from the crane's column. It is measured in tonne-metres, so one tonne held one metre from the column is one tonne-metre. A higher tonne-metre rating means the crane can hold a heavier load at the same distance, or the same load further out. COPMA's high-capacity range spans 100 tonne-metres on the COPMA 1000 to 750 tonne-metres on the COPMA 7500. The load a crane can hold falls as it moves outward along the load curve.
The COPMA 7500 lifts the most in this range, rated at 750 tonne-metres. It lifts up to 104,700 kg at 6.2 m. Its maximum reach is 46.5 m at about 2,300 kg with the jib fitted. On its standard boom without a jib it reaches 22.4 m. The COPMA 3500 is next at 350 tonne-metres, lifting up to 49,500 kg at 5.5 m.
Ranked by lifting moment, the range is:
Close to the truck, these five models reach their peak capacity. The COPMA 1000 lifts up to 16,950 kg at 4.75 m. The COPMA 1150 lifts up to 22,050 kg at 4.2 m. The COPMA 1400 lifts up to 23,540 kg at 4.35 m. The COPMA 1600 lifts up to 40,000 kg at 2.65 m. The COPMA 2000 lifts up to 29,190 kg at 4.38 m. The COPMA 1600's 40,000 kg at 2.65 m is the highest close-in figure among the 100 to 200 tonne-metre models.
Multiply the load's weight by how far it must sit from the crane column, and the product in tonne-metres is the lifting moment to look for. For loads placed close to the truck, the 100 to 200 tonne-metre models carry from 16,950 kg up to 40,000 kg. For the heaviest lifts, the COPMA 3500 handles up to 49,500 kg at 5.5 m and the COPMA 7500 handles up to 104,700 kg at 6.2 m. For light loads at long range, the COPMA 3500 reaches 50.79 m at about 280 kg and the COPMA 7500 reaches 46.5 m at about 2,300 kg, both with the jib fitted. Read the certified load chart for the exact capacity at the radius you need.
Each hydraulic extension pushes the load further from the column, so the crane's capacity at the tip drops as reach grows. The gap between the standard boom and the fully extended reach shows the effect:
The COPMA 1150 is offered with 4 to 10 hydraulic boom extensions, plus an optional jib. The COPMA 1400, COPMA 1600 and COPMA 2000 are each offered with 4 to 9 hydraulic boom extensions, plus an optional jib. More extensions give greater horizontal outreach at a lower lifting moment.
EN 12999 is the European standard for loader cranes as a category. It sets design, testing and safety requirements for hydraulic knuckle-boom loader cranes mounted on vehicles. It applies to the loader-crane class as a whole, independent of make. COPMA's high-capacity models are truck-mounted knuckle-boom loader cranes within the category EN 12999 covers.
