A COPMA model number encodes the lifting class in tonne-metres, followed by the number of hydraulic boom extensions. The leading digits are the class (240 = 24.0 tonne-metres, 128 = 12.8 tonne-metres), and the number after the dot is the count of hydraulic extensions, so the 240.6 is a 24.0 tonne-metre crane with 6 hydraulic extensions and the 240.4 is the same class with 4. A “J” suffix, such as 240.4J2, adds an articulated jib with its own extensions for extra outreach. More extensions add horizontal reach; the lifting class stays the same.
These are the three COPMA product families. ESSENTIAL covers the compact and mid-size everyday cranes, HIGH POWER models raise hydraulic pressure and lifting moment within the same size band for heavier duty, and TOP RANGE covers the largest, highest-capacity articulated cranes. Across the range, hydraulic operating pressures run from around 235 bar on the smallest models to about 355 bar on the high-power classes.
