Appydro, COPMA's partner in the Bordeaux region of France, brought a customer to the COPMA factory in Italy for a close look at the range, alongside Michael Meunier of NCIS. The highlight was a hands-on test of the 1000.8J6, a 100 tonne-metre knuckle-boom crane soon to be bodied at Bennes Calvet.
The 1000.8J6 is a Top Range COPMA in the 100 tonne-metre class, with eight hydraulic boom extensions and a six-extension jib. That is enough reach and capacity for heavy, awkward lifts, while the crane still folds compactly behind the cab for the road. Trying a crane on the factory floor, before it is bodied and delivered, is the best way to understand how it will handle on the job.
The visit covered the COPMA line from the compact 650 up through the 820, 950, 1000 and 1400, with conversations with COPMA's engineers about the models coming next: lighter, more compact, more powerful and more connected. The finale was the 3500, COPMA's flagship at 350 tonnes of lifting technology.
COPMA cranes are engineered and built in Italy and supported through the CPS Group dealer network. Thanks to Yann Thephany and the Appydro team for the visit. Explore the range at copma.ai.
